If you wait 4 min or so it will start working again, but will reoccur in what seems like a shorter amount of time. The relays continue to click during issue. Post a Reply Report this post. If you have travel and then not it could be the tips are either burned or just worn enough to not make a good connection every time they pull in causing it to loose connection and have loss of travel. These contactors when they get worn will also hang up and not pull in completely and as they warm up it can get worse which would explain the increased frequency of travel failure as you continue to drive it.

Best remedy to repair this is to just replace the contactor assy, you can try to repair the contactor assy by installing tip kits but the parts, labor and time to do this would cost more than just swapping it out with a new one. Although these EV systems are known to have issues with the recs 2 and 5 and an occasional 1 failure these are usually accompanied with a fault code. Since you do not have any faults showing this is what has led me to this conclusion about the directional contacts.

If they are worn and loosing connection this would explain the loss of travel with no error codes. Is this a 36 or 48v system? You mentioned the relays are clicking even though the truck won't go in your first post? If that's whats happening then I would think you should be checking the relay contactors them self, the speed control pot and wiring, and the drive motor.

The blue is coming from small part b which I guess is also an scr? I will double check the point of attachment at wire harness plug into control panel, could issue be the small scr part b?

Due to a lack of parking brake, I did the brakes on my forklift yesterday.

I did not remove the backing plated from the machine as I did not see a reason to at the time. The question I have is about the "cam" style adjustment on the backing plate.

I have done a significant amount of drum brakes in the past, but I have never come across this type of adjustment before. I under stand that the cams are to be adjusted from behind the plate with the bolt head, however the front adjustment is not accessible. It is completely blocked by the plate that the uprights mount to. There is no access to the system once the drum is on, and there are no access holes in the drum.

The entire system is reassembled and there is still no parking brake, the manual doesn't give any information about how to adjust the brakes shoes, or the parking brake. The parking brake adjustment on the lever is at its max, and there are no visible issues with the cable system, from what I can see the cable adjustments are already at their max.

Is there a method for adjusting these shoes that I missed somewhere? I have searched and I cannot find anything relevant. I do not want to pay the forklift guy Thanks for the help.

The parking brake is a lever type mechanism that interacts with the linkage inside the brake drum, the only adjustment you have is at the handle assy.

If you cannot get a viable tension out of it then the cable is probably stretched out and should be replaced. Once they get stretched like this there is no other recourse other than to replace the cable. There may be a slight adjustment where the cables attach to either end that may make some difference but overall if you cannot get the adjustment out of the handle then the cable is stretched out and should be replaced. However this is intermittent, after several clicks back and forth then I usually get transmission engagement back.

Today was different where I could not get any engagement and thus could not move.

Wondering if there is some interlock problem, i. I've checked and topped off the transmission fluid level. Another curious symptom is that I have zero steering capability when this is occurring, so again wondering if something like the parking brake is interlocking the main hydraulics? Another angle on this is that sometimes the lift sits for a month at a time and I do have some leaks Thanks for any suggestions I guess I understand that something is wrong in the hydraulic control circuit but not sure how to proceed for repairs or testing TIA -Matt.

Bleeding the air out is only a temporary fix Note: When running the unit in this condition By the way the recommended oil is J20A or J20C Universal tractor transmission was an update in the early 80's. Hi, thanks for the replies. I first went down the path of troubleshooting the parking brake solenoid I disconnected the little steel pipette that brings fluid back to the valve body and I was just getting a little spurt of ATF now and then with the solenoid energized with an alligator clip to 12v.

Reading, found what Joe posted about trans and steering being common. I will try the hex-plug plus I'm wondering if I've dropped fluid level down far enough to entrain air The dipstick says to check engine running and fluid hot, which I have trouble achieving the temperature.

Last session I know I was getting air as I had my ear right up next to the orbital motor for steering and I'd hear little slugs of fluid go thru it at times, followed by slugs of air. I had assist for those instances when there was fluid.

Still have some pretty good fluid leaks on the floor and leaking from the power steering cylinder rod glands have a rebuild kit and the oil drips were "foamy". Will tear into it again this weekend and see where I get. Thanks for the replies thus far. Trens and steering use same pump. Pump should be mounted to bell on right side of truck.Forum Rules. Somewhere in its lifetime some one "hacked" into the OEM electrical loom and really messed it up. Over the past two weeks I've literally, completely re-wired it. I'm completely done except with the hand-brake but before I get ahead of myself here are some particulars: 1.

It has the Continental Y engine 2. It's been updated with a Delco 4-wire alternator, eliminating the external regulator circuits 3. It has a hand brake the controls both the braking and a switch with 4 wires exiting it 4. This machine could be started even when the parking braked was released This parking switch is my final issue! I've determined that two wires are used thusly: when the parking brake is released in the DOWN position 12 VDC is supplied to one of the smaller-gauged wires wire 1 and switched to another large-gauged wire wire 2 that leads to what looks like a solenoid on the top of the transmission.

That voltage allows the transmission drive to engage and operate either forward or backward, dependent upon the Monotrol circuitry. The final two wires are comprised of a smaller-gauged wire wire 3 and a larger-gauged wire wire 4.

It looks like the small-gauged wire was connected to either the ignition switch or something else under the control panel it was disconnected before I started working on it. I believe this circuit was disconnected for some reason in the past and I need to determine what needs done to ensure this machine will ONLY start when the parking brake is engaged. I've tried to supply 12 VDC to this remaining smaller-gauged wire to see if that solves the issue
